Our
children and young people today are exposed to more and
more conflicting messages about, growing up, "being cool"
and what's "right" and "wrong". Schools and families are
faced with challenging decisions as they try to teach young
people to make good choices.
Teaching
young people to be responsible and self-disciplined is central
to Jim Fitzpatrick's, Developing Responsible Behavior
in Schools programs. It is a positive, constructive
way to teach young people, K-12, to make good choices and
be responsible without tying the school and classroom up
in volumes of policies, rules and procedures. The climate
in the school improves, it becomes a safer and more civil
place to be. This leads to less destructive and violent
behaviors. The responsibility for proper behavior and discipline
shifts from the adult to the student where it belongs!
Jim
brings over twenty years of experience to his in-service
programs, keynotes and seminars. He draws on his roles as
teacher, assistant principal, principal and superintendent
to illustrate how schools can improve student behavior.
Developing Responsible Behavior in Schools is designed
for educators who want to improve how they deal with difficult
and alienated students. Equally important, the program helps
the staff foster responsible behavior and discipline in
ALL students.
| "If
more policies and rules were the answer don't you think
we would have discovered them by now? It is time to
stop the bickering and truly solve the problems in our
schools!" |

Developing
Responsible Behavior is based on sound principles that allow
a school to consistently enforce rules with equal treatment
for all students. A recurring question the adults need to
ask is, "What are we teaching the students with our behavior?"
