Jim offers several programs for school districts. Listed below are the more common programs but Jim is willing to customize presentations to meet the specific needs of a school.

Keynote Addresses
Jim is experienced in delivering motivational keynotes to audiences from one hundred to over thirty-five hundred. His keynotes are especially effective at opening or closing a conference. These keynotes can be forty-five to ninety minutes in length. Jim mixes laughter with a strong message, raising questions for people to think about as they attend or finish a conference. Past topics include: "We Have To Get These Kids Under Control!" "The Trouble Is We Are Not Consistent!" "It's How We Treat Them That Counts." "What Are We Going To Do With These Kids?"

Full Day Sessions
The full day session, Developing Responsible Behavior in Schools, is the one Jim is asked to present most often. It fits into a typical school in-service day schedule. The morning begins by exploring why kids behave the way they do. A belief system about behavior is developed. That system is then placed into the context of our society. Using the belief system, Jim presents serious school situations in a humorous fashion to help the audience understand why what we often do to kids doesn't really work. Jim constantly has the audience look at behavior and compare it to the "real world". The afternoon is spent developing a process to teach students, K-12, to be responsible. It looks at what goes on in schools. How do we focus on discipline and less on punishment? What happens in a school if you change something? A school-wide model is developed. Jim uses plenty of examples from actual school situations that he and others have experienced to illustrate the principles. At the close of the day Jim demonstrates specific techniques that teachers can use in their classroom.

Half-Day Sessions
These programs focus on more specific issues. The topics often look at what motivates students to behave the way they do. School policies and procedures are examined as to their effectiveness in teaching students responsibility. Techniques are demonstrated and discussed to use in the school. While it is not essential, these sessions are more effective if the participants have attended the full day session described above.

Training and On-Site Consulting
These sessions are more interactive and "hands-on". This is for schools that have chosen to implement the program and are making a commitment for its success in the school. Unlike the programs above this is for small groups. Participants are trained through role-playing, demonstration and discussion. Action plans are developed for implementation in the school or classroom. The participants in these sessions should have attended the full day session described above.

Parent Programs
Jim delivers one to two hour parent programs. These programs are held in the evening before or after a school in-service program. These are mini versions of the sessions presented to the school staff. The emphasis is on teaching responsibility to children in the home setting. Humor and the message is what make these so popular.

College Credit
Jim can arrange for graduate credit for participants in the program. Advance notice is required because some lead-time is necessary to work with the cooperating university.

Cost
Jim's work is on a fee plus expenses basis. Special pricing is available for state, regional and national conferences.
